Our Chef – Michel Nijsten

Michel was born in Maastricht in Holland, Culinary Capital of Limburg.

After his Chef’s training he worked in Hostellerie de Hamert, a prestigious Michelin Star Hotel in Wellerlooi. In 1985 Michel moved to London for 7 years working in the Savoy Hotel, Meridian Hotel, The Hilton Park Lane, Whites Hotel and Halcyon hotel to name a few.

Michel then started his quest for using the finest foods throughout Britain.

First to Scotland for 4 years then Devon for 5 years followed by Shropshire for the past 18 years of which the last 14 years here at The Albright Hussey Manor Hotel.

When Jean Christophe Novelli visited Shrewsbury for a Cooking demonstration, he insisted on coming to see us at the Hussey.

It was a beautiful Summers evening and we ate on the Front Terrace and a great time was had by all. What a Top Man
